Not sure about the photo problem, try changing your batteries and make sure you have the right speed setting set (iso:asa) for your film ie 16oo, 800, 400, 200 or 100!
The shutter problem could relate to the apiture, if the conditions are slightly to dark for a normal photo to be taken then the shutter will stay open longer in order for more light to be collected, a flash would solve this problem!
