Not a very useful feature, IMO. I used to have
a Nikon FT and the shutter worked independently
of the battery. Now I have an AE-1 and the battery
keeps draining because the light meter is on all
the time. I can't figure out how to turn it off!
Any ideas?

Thanks

: The AE-1 has an electric shutter release. If the battery gets low it will do just as you describe! The battery must be good AND you cannot use the alkaline battery. You must use either the silver oxide or the lithium battery.
