I have a Canon A1, So far it worked great. Just a month back when I advanced the film and tried to press the shutter, nothing happened ! And I found, I could advance the film until it is finished without pressing shutter. Then afer I inserted a new film, this problem disappeared.

Today same thing happened and its not going away. I also found that:
1. The mirror seems to move as if it is taking a shot (I don't know the specific term for this) after I advance the film to a certain length.
2. The indicator lights (speed and aperture) stopped blinking if I press the shutter. The battery is new.
This is my best camera. I am very upset today.
What I do ?
I will sincerely appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

Editor's Note: As long as you are certain the battery is the correct one and fresh (check using a voltmeter) and the battery contacts are clean (use a pencil eraser) the only thing you can do is take your Canon A1 to a qualified camera repair technician and have them diagnose the problem and give you an estimate. If your camera has been cared for and is in good shape, it is well worth having it repaired by a professional. Read the following suggestions from others.
