: I have not had much luck finding the answer and hope someone can help. Can you tell me what off-camera flash cord I need to use a 540EZ on a A2 Canon? It is not listed in my manual and with the electronics involved I don't want to "fry" something. Thanks, Dennis Smith
According to Canon's web site, the EOS A2 has a PC terminal; I assume this means the camera will take a standard PC cord. It's not the cord which will fry your camera, it's the trigger voltage of the electronic flash. In Canon's case, the flash trigger voltage has to be 6 volts or less. Assuming that your Canon 540EZ Speedlite is a current model, there should be no problem using it with the Canon EOS A2. What I don't learn from Canon's web site is whether the 540EZ has a PC terminal in addition to the hot shoe. Without seeing the camera and flash, I am unable to tell whether Canon has a proprietary plug socket or whether a standard PC cord from any camera store will work. If the 540EZ Speedlite doesn't have a PC socket but only a hotshoe, then you can buy an adapter which slides onto the hotshoe and which offers a PC outlet for plugging the cord into.
