I just bought one from a friend. You have to pull out the film to the red mark, making sure the film is on the sprockets, and then close the door and pull up on the handle and wind the film till it stops and then push the shutter down and the film will advance to "1". To turn the camera on pull up gently on the outer ring where you see the L, S, and C. Turn to either S or C and press down the shutter half way and look for the LED to light up
