: NEED #2 RM-640 BATTERIES FOR OLD HI-MATIC E CAMARA ANY INFO WILL HELP THANKS DENNIS DEVINE
The RM-640 battery is not available; production of most mercury batteries ceased 3-4 years ago worldwide because of environmental concerns.
Some web references

The reported voltage for the RM-640 was 1.4 volts, and the camera doesn't work without batteries. I don't know if you can find zinc-air hearing aid batteries or silver oxide cells which match this voltage and are approximately the same size - some people report on the web using these types of batteries with jury-rigged metal shims to extend the size of the battery. The company which makes Weincell zinc air batteries has not made an equivalent for the RM-640. Without knowing more, I would not recommend using the alkaline 1.5 volt replacement for the RM0640 because it could lead to underexposed images, or worse, damage to the meter circuitry. I just don't know.
