: : I bought the canon eos 500n ages ago and it came with the 35-80mm 4-5.6 (3) lense.
: : I have never seen such bad quality pictures taken with this lense.(i g/friend has a 12 year old 35mm compact that blows it away )

: : i would like to buy i new lense to improve this camera but do not know where to start.I would like to stay in the same range but going down to a 28mm- ? would be fine .
: : Any help with this matter would be greatfull .

: Hi Cyd,
: Before you spend any money, lend the camera to your girlfriend and have her shoot a roll and see what the pictures look like. Confirm fresh battery, fresh film and a clean lens.

That has been done already (good advice though )The battery was always new , camera clean andthe film new .Even using 100 iso film the pictures came out very grainy and had a washed out apperence. I even tryed getting them developed at different photoshops incase it was them .I am not new to photography as i have an old minolta SR-1 with various lenses which i use with great results , but bought this camera for the auto focusing , metering etc.
Do you think there might be a problem with the lens and/or camera ?
Thankyou for the reply .

Cyd
