The actual cleaning is pretty simple. Get some denatured alcohol at your Pharmacy. Don't use regular alcohol because it has oils in it. I use Kim wipe tissues, but any good eye glass tissue will do just fine. Many fungus will come off with no problems, however there are some that actually eat into the glass coatings. If you have one of those then its pretty much ruined the glass. It is possible to have the glass polished and re-coated but the cost is very high and unless its a real 'special' lens it would not be worth the expense.
Take special note of the glass elements as you remove them because they only go back together one way !! Getting one wrong and the lens won't focus right and then it can be very time consuming to determine which element you got wrong.
Some technicians use cotton gloves when handling the glass. It saves time with keeping the glass clear of finger prints. The cotton gloves can be found at your photo store that carries darkroom supplies.
There is a good likelyhood you will also be getting envolved with resetting the infinity focus, but I guess thats for another discussion.
Good Luck
Don
