: Please help - I am trying to figure out how to adjust the film speed on my canon ae1. There doesn't appear to be a button, and all I can succeed in doing is moving the shutter speed. It is quite annoying as I am stuck on aso125! If anyone knows, or has a manual, please let me know!

Yep, it's a poor design,

Bear with me, it is a little difficult to explain but easy once you have done it a couple of times (watch out for your finger nails!) I am doing this from memeory so here go's decide which way you want to go with the film speed dial clockwise or anticlockwise (left or right) then turn the shutter speed (left or right) as far as it will go (to the highest or lowest speed) then lift the shutter speed ring it is a bit fiddely but it does lift then you will find that turning the shutter speed dial now turns further adjusting the ASA setting, All sounds confusing but the trick is lift the shutter ring then you should be able to work it out. If all else fails read the instruction book! (big grin)
