What F/Stop for B-Setting

When using the B-Setting, what F/Stop should I use? I would think that 1.8 or 2.8 would be the best choice to let in the most light, but I would like to get a little more depth of field so I need to know whether or not F/4 would make the picture too dark. Thanks a lot.
