I have recently begun to shoot more and more nudes. A friend has brought it to my attention that if I were planning on showing these photographs in the gallery I'm a menber of, then I need to get a release form for the model to sign. I would really appreciate anyone who could give me an e-mail address or an address of any other kind that could tell me how to get my hands on one of those forms.

Editor's Note: Your friend is correct. Although Marko's advice below is certainly much better than having no release at all, I strongly advise you use a standard blank model release form written by a lawyer. There are simple ones and extremely complex ones. Model releases are necessary for all people, clothed or not.

Read the following advice about model releases. Then read the PDN Guide to Model and Property Releases. Photo District News also provides free model release forms which you can download and use.

Just write your own. Keep it simple and clear stating that the person give you a release to use the photo for a specified, or general use. It should be signed and dated with a copy for you and one for the model. The same goes for photos in which a person is the subject, even if they are dressed! If the person is paid, that should be stated too, with the amount paid... Even if you haven't done years of law school, a slightly faulty document is at least proof that you are on the level and will ward off most attacks.
