Currently use a Sunpak 4000AF on a Nikon N70. Problem I have with the flash is that the power zoom is automatically set by the focal length of the lens only, and does not make any use of the distance to subject information provided by D type lenses. As a result, when a zoom lens is set for 80mm, the flash assumes the subject is far away and casts a beam that is narrow and will not properly illuminate a subject that may be as close as 2'. I can of course use the manual override on the flash but that is a nuisance because the flash always powers up in the auto mode. Does anyone know if the SB-28 handles this situation any better than the Sunpak?
