I only recommend them if all the person wants are snapshots. APS is fool proof, but your right the pictures are grainy and well.. I just hate APS. If you pick up a copy of this months PHOTOGRAPHIC 2000 Buyer's Guide, they have all the low-down on 35mm P&S, it might give you more insight on what your looking for.
