In Reply to: Tamron 28-200 on Nikon FE10 body posted by Sunil on October 10, 1999 at 23:46:51:
: Hello
: I am a beginner in photography. I use a Nikon FE10 (manual
focus) and would like to buy a zoom lense for that. As far as the
zoom range and price is concerned I like Tamron 28-200 AF. I have
never used this lense.
: Is Tamron 28-200 AF good for manual focus cameras?
: If I buy, can I use the same lense on Pentax MZ 50 (ZX 50) body
?
: Can anybody give advice? Thanks in advance.

Sunil:
Why purchase an AF lens (autofocus) for a manual camera?
Get a manual lens for a manual camera.
That way you do not have to pay for the autofocus system. The
Tamron literature proclaims that
the new 28-200mm, Model 171A, is loaded with state-of-the-art
features, and can be used with more than 200 different 35mm SLR
cameras, old and new. Furthermore, Tamron is launching a revamped
cosmetic design with the introduction of this new lens, changing
the zoom and focus ring patterns to improve overall handling
ease.
I have not tried it myself but specs look good. Search in Popular
Photography tests if they have one for this lens or try at your
local store.

More imprtant to you, you can have the
Mount Adaptall II Interchangeable mount system
that should allow you to used interchangeably in both cameras.
Specify the cameras when ordering.
Catalog Number for the lens is
A17-200
The only thing you may gain with the AF model is that it allows
for one of the shortest focusing distances at full zomm (200mm).
Have a great time
