Hello Amy,
Keep the Pentax, retire the Kodak, assign the APS to limited duty
and mail the Yashica to me. Now wasn't that easy! :-) Seriously
you could always give the Yashica to someone with less cameras.
Seriously, I have more cameras than you: FOUR Canon 35mm SLRs, THREE medium format cameras (Pentax 6x7, Mamiya C-33, and an old Omega Rapid press camera) and ONE 3-D Nimslo. The reason I have so many cameras is there really is no one camera which is all-around suitable for every photo situation.
For general all around snap-shooting, I'd recommend that you look at all the current point-and-shoot (also known as compact) 35mm cameras made by the major manufacturers (Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, and Olympus.) Find one with a zoom lens and other features you think you need. I am a strong proponent of 35mm cameras when choosing between 35mm and APS. Yes, APS will survive but the cost of film and processing will probably always be more expensive than 35mm. The bells-and-whistles features found on APS cameras can't make up for the smaller negative size and increased processing costs.
Of course, you could always attach your kids to the floor with Velcro and then the Pentax will work just fine.
