:Basil,
1) set aside the flash, the weird box, the lens marked 2.8 to 22
, and the lens marked 70 to 210 mm
2) take the camera down to your local camera store and have them put a new battery in it, mount or have them mount the lens that says 50 on it
3) move the dial all the way over to the green 22 and there should be a little slide that will lock it in that position just a little farther over to the right. Now set the adjustment to A (Auto) (or have the camera store do this).
4)buy some film at the camera store and have them put the film in the camera and set the film speed. Watch as they do this
5)Go out during the day and point the camera at what you would like to take a picture of and turning the outer ring on the lens you will notice the the subject will go in and out of focus .. when it is in focus slowly push down on the button that takes the picture till you hear the camera take the picture. now move the film wind lever gently all the way in a counterclockwise rotation till it stops and you are ready to take another picture.
6) have the film developed and enjoy .. this is the least expensive way to see if you will want to continue using this camera, if you decide that you enjoy it, THEN spend some money on some books and maybe a basic photo class at your local community college to learn what all the little numbers mean ... BUT don't do that first only to discover that it is not for you .. go take some pictures first .. Frank
:HI, I recently received a camera from my aunt..,. says she doesnt use the camera anymore, so this is what she gave me...
: A Minolta X-370 camera, with 3 different lenses..
: One lens has a 50 stamped by a red dot..and has settings that go from 2-22 and the next movable part goes from .45-10m
: the second lens has image 52mm UV stamped on it it says 70-210MM 1:4.5-5.6 MC MACRO settings go 4.5-22 and the other movable 1.1-12m and the lenses also colapses, and expands..
: the third lens image goes from 2.8-22 and movable part that goes from .3-3m
:
: the camera also came with a weird box thing..that is supposed
to rewind film automatically...a slik 500g tripod..and a Vivitar
zoom thyristor 285 flash...has settings on the side of flash that
go from 15-27din 25-400asa and wide normal and tele....
: when I turn the camera on.., there are numbers in the side of the viewer...going from 1-1000 and there is a B at the bottom.., and an A at the top...the camera also has an Auto or Manual button.. and another setting for film speed.
: My question is.., I am new to photography...
: what do all these numbers mean??? what are the different lenses for? Is this a good camera?
: any help appreciated....please if you know of a website where i can learn what these settings are for, i would appreciate it.
