Gene, there is absolutely NOTHING about this product on the web. My guess is it either no longer made or will only be found by contacting dealers in used commercial photo lab equipment. It may be an expensive piece of equipment but having never seen one, I don't know for sure.
Byers Industries Inc. makes slide mounting systems, silver/washwater recovery systems and duplicating stands. Their address is 6800 N.E. 59th Place, Portland, Oregon 97218, Phone: 503-281-0069, Fax: 503-281-1669.
Update: We received the following letter from Mary Ann MacArthur.
I noticed your post about the Byers "Rotamatic". I worked for them in their production and repair depts. for 13 years and I do not recall the product being called a Rotamatic. I do recall the Fotovix and the 2 units Byers made to adapt to it. We put a Fotovix label on one of them. I think they called it a Fotovix slide feeder. The other was a carousel type unit and very few of these were made. To be perfectly honest this was a short lived product. There were a lot of constraints from an engineering standpoint.
If you phone Byers and speak with the service department, (today) she could probably look up the info or recall the exact name of the unit which attaches to the Fotovix. She should be able to give you a product # 100XXX and give you a ball park number on how many were made although I doubt she could tell you where to find one. I do recall that they were VERY finicky. They worked but they had to be tweaked after they were mounted and not jostled around. I hope this helps.
The Fotovix was made by Tamron (NY). I really do not think the adapter units made at the Byers plant carried a Byers logo other than the serial label. I would forget trying to find stocked repair parts if a unit is found.
One more thought. Try Wacky Willy's Surplus 2374 NW Vaughn Portland, Oregon 97210-2351 (503) 525-9211. They do buy items of this sort for resale.
