: Hi Some one gave me a ZENIT 11 with a 35 mm lens. The great part is that I dont know how to use it. It has no through the lens light meter. Just below the prism on the outside it seems to have some sort of diode to capture light but doesnt seem to be working. If someone can help me with this camera I will be grateful Thanks!!

The Zenit 11 you have is an improved version of the ubiquitous
Zenit E. Most of the selenium light meters on Zenits don't work
or are inaccurate, so you may want to use a handheld light meter.
It is pretty hard to read those meters even when they are
working. Zenits are capable cameras when working. Yours has
improved functions like an automatic diaphragm that allows wide
open focusing and doesn't have that cheesy rotating shutter speed
dial that characterized the E model.
A good source of information about Zenit cameras is: http://www.euronet.nl/~ucklomp/
Alfred loves all cameras Russian--I don't share his enthusiasm, but his website is one of the best for camera lovers.
